Around Dhaulagiri
AROUND DHAULAGIRI

Dhaulagiri holds special mention in Ramayana, a greatest mythological epic of Hindus because of its magic herb which revived the life of Laxman, brother of Lord Rama. The route that we trailed is infrequently used by trekkers. But this trek offers an exceptional introduction to Nepal's unique culture and natural beauty. On the trail, you pass through lush vegetation, rice fields and the arid Tibetan landscape.

Fluttering the Buddhist prayer flags along the stupas and monasteries gives a perfect vista of Nepal's grandeur blended with Tibetan Buddhism. Along the way you get to see apple orchards and a taste of apple brandy or cider as well! Our trekking route diverts from the main busy Annapurna Circuit trails at Larjung and head towards the Base Camp, east face of Dhaulagiri the 'th highest peak in the world. Alongside the icefall is a summer pasture camp. Rejoining the main trail and proceeding northward towards the deepest gorge in the world, the Kali Gandaki River, pursue a side trip to Muktinath.

It is a pilgrimage site for Buddhist and Hindu pilgrims. Bathing in the 108 water spouts at Muktinath (Lord of Liberation) is said to remove the sins of innumerable lifetimes. From Jomsom, fly back to Pokhara or continue trek to Tatopani, Ghorepani, and end the trek at New Bridge.
